Rogers Raising the Grade

What is Raising the Grade?

Rogers Raising the Grade is an after-school education program for Youth in grades 6 - 12 that runs out of the Kaare Norgaard Boys and Girls Club located in Central Saanich. This interactive program allows youth to get homework help, meet new people, and explore options for their future.

Raise your Grades:
Whether you are worried about graduating, stumped by a paper, stressed about a test, nervous about university, or are terrified to give a presentation in front of your class: we can help you. You’ll work with the Education Supervisor to develop a personalized plan for your success, get tutoring in subjects you’re struggling with, and learn some new skills to help make school easier.
You will have access to the Rogers Technology Centre, designed specifically for students in this program, where you can work
on your homework independently, in groups, or with a mentor.
  Digital Literacy:

Rogers Raising the Grade operates out of a brand new Tech Centre equipped with computers and tablets!  We will be integrating the tech into all aspects of the program. Gain practical tech skills that can help you with future academic or career opportunities.

Careers and Jobs:

From “I don’t know what I want to do with my life!” to “I want to be a  ___ , but I don’t know how, ” thinking about the future can be stressful, and finding your ‘dream-job’ can seem overwhelming.
We can help you put together a resume, practice interview skills, look for jobs, and explore career and post-secondary options.

Youth-Lead Trips:

No one knows what you want to explore better than you. You will work with the Education Supervisor to plan field trips that reflect your own interests.  What happens in a day-in-the-life of a marine biologist? What’s it like working behind-the-scenes on a movie set? What does it take to be an executive chef? What’s it like living in a college dorm room? You ask the question, and together we’ll find the answers.

Fun:

All work and no play … well, that’s just not us! Even though we’ll be spending a lot of time on school work, this program is meant to reflect what you want. Workshops, trips, games, activities, and just time to hang out and relax are important as well. Come to have a good time and increase your success in school!

Participants are expected to attend at least 2 times a week.  This can include time working on homework, doing independent projects, attending workshops or field-trips, working 1-on-1 with their mentor.

About Rogers Youth Fund:

The Rogers Youth Fund initiative is a national program that helps youth overcome education challenges and excel in the classroom and beyond. The Rogers Youth Fund is currently working with 16 local charities as well as Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada nationally.
